How to Go to Burj Khalifa Dubai

There are a lot of long flights whose the transit is either in Dubai or in Abu Dhabi Airport, especially from and to Europe. If you have transit in Dubai or Abu Dhabi by chance, and you want to make use of the transit time to travel around Dubai, you can visit Burj Khalifa, the tallest tower in the world.

From Dubai Airport

If you are from Dubai Airport, there are two options to go to Burj Khalifa Dubai:

By Taxi.

The first option on how to go to Burj Khalifa Dubai is by taxi. You can take a taxi from airport. Just tell the driver that you want to go to Burj Khalifa. All taxi drivers must have known it very well and they will drive you to the building, most of them will stop at Dubai Mall. It takes around 20-30 minutes, depends on the traffic condition. The travel will cost you around AED 50. You don’t need to bargain the cost because all taxis use argo to determine the cost. To return back to the airport, you can take taxi from Dubai Mall. The cost and time are about the same as explained.

By Metro.

The second option on how to go to Burj Khalifa Dubai is by metro. To use the metro facilities, you must have Nol Card which you can buy in counter in metro station in Dubai Airport. It’s because they don’t accept cash for metro facilities. There are many types of Nol Card you can buy. If you only need to use this once, it’s recommended to buy the Silver Nol Card for AED 20 (including the balance of AED 14 inside). You don’t need to show any documents to buy it.

One Nol Card is for one person, including children. You need to attach the card when you aboard and get off the metro. It will reduce your card balance around AED 3-7 when you get off the metro. You can check the remaining balance at the machine.

From metro station in the airport, you will travel until metro station in Burj Khalifa / Dubai Mall. Then you need to walk to Dubai Mall for 10 minutes. You can take the same way to return back to the airport.

From the Abu Dhabi Airport

If you are from Abu Dhabi Airport, there are two options to to go to Burj Khalifa Dubai:

By Taxi

The first option on how to go to Burj Khalifa Dubai is by taxi.You can take a taxi from airport. Just tell the driver that you want to go to Burj Khalifa in Dubai. All taxi drivers must have known it very well and they will drive you to the building, most of them will stop at Dubai Mall. It takes around 1.5 hours, depends on the traffic condition. The travel will cost you around AED 300-400. You don’t need to bargain the cost because all taxis use argo to determine the cost. To return back to the airport, you can take taxi from Dubai Mall. The cost and time are about the same as explained.

By Bus

The second option on how to go to Burj Khalifa Dubai is by bus. This option is a little bit difficult. The travel time is longer, but it’s cheaper. In this option, you need to take bus from Abu Dhabi Airport to the bus station in Abu Dhabi for around 20-30 minutes, then you continue by taking specific bus to Dubai. To take the bus, you can either use the Nol Card or pay AED 35 per person. If you choose to use Nol Card which you can buy at the bus station, you will be charged AED 25 per person. You can buy Silver Nol Card if you stay for a short time in Dubai. You can ask to the staff how much you should buy the balance.

The travel will take around 2 hours. You can get off at the WTC Bus Stop, then take taxi to the Dubai Mall. The taxi costs around AED 15-20, you will reach Dubai Mall in 10 minutes.

So, those are the options on on how to go to Burj Khalifa Dubai. After arriving, you can walk to the food counter where you can also buy the tickets. You may queue for around 15-20 minutes, depends on the condition. The ticket price is AED 400. It’s free for children under 4 years old. You may need to queue again to aboard to the elevator around 15-30 minutes and the tour typically last 45 minutes.
